Curious as to how this worked out 1st round of class at Indy? Does anyone have a report from the track whether or not racers were able to run their chillers outside their pit?

Yes, I am here …. NHRA sent their officials patrolling the grounds looking for offenders . There was a fairly heated altercation between a racer and 5 NHRA officials. Very simply, NHRA does not want racers to use chillers outside of their pit area. It puts the racers pitted in the north 40 at a severe disadvantage …

Common sense, I know, and unlikely to ever happen, but when you have to drive, thru the crowded pits from 1/2 mile away, and not allowed to cool the engine, certainly can put such vehicles at a performance disadvantage, especially in the case of a heads up race. Of course, I really doubt that NHRA officials would ever want the spectators to have to walk past a bunch of lowly Sportsman cars to get to the "PRO" pits, so they can get some autographs of the Nitro stars.
I imagine part of the problem would be the empty area that would quickly appears as eliminations happen. Visually, not ideal. I know it's not the answer people want, but that's my guess.
