Last I knew, and I believe it is still true, the bridges in NY only charge eastbound traffic. From VT, we would run our trucks down I-91 to I-95 South, Cross Bronx, GW Bridge. On the way back, we would run Route 17 North to I-287 to I-87 North (NY Thruway) and the toll all the way up to Albany was less than the bridge tolls, PARTICULARLY the GW. Now, we would run 2 lane roads back to VT. If you run the Mass Pike, you'd probably lose all advantage.
