When I get my car back from the body & paint shop. I'm inspecting the shifter, among many other things. If it needs cleaning & lube, it will get it.

I'm pretty sure

Paul, I do get exactly what I deserve, I worked for it, life is GREAT!

That said, my comments stand about your ridiculous thread asking about lube for a shifter mechanism.

not special, just have motor skills and hand eye coordination to manually shift a 3 speed trans that you obviously don't.

Foot brake that dragster? Not able to hit a tree even if it fell on you.

The original lube was full of dirt cleaned it all off everywhere

Don't mess with the handle unless you have some patience.
Used Super Lube silicon grease as the assembly lube
Soaked the cable in trans fluid for a few days
Re installed making sure alignment and adjustment are as instructed.

Initially my impression was the spring that pushed the rod/disc up needed to slow down but with bench testing and in the car before and after the shift lever needed to speed up. That must be why PPP states most problems are in the cable.
Cleaning and lubrication worked as expected.
No more shifter issue.

Same stuff really works on elect or hand cranked window regulators and seals also. Almost 40 years old and they now glide like new (saved replacing the motors...just cleaned out all that old dried up white lithium crud, sprayed all the tracks and seals, reinstalled them and like magic they glide up and down again). So, I also used it on the new shifter after installing it too!

Better than just new. Lol. Goes on wet, instantly dries, attracts less dust and dirt buildup.
