Re: CCRA KDS Sunday reschedule
Coming up this Saturday afternoon, August 17th, is the GBM Land & Construction CCRA Sunday rescheduled race from KDS Motorsports being held at GALOT Motorsports Park. This is a one day event only!
Gates will NOT be opened for parking on Friday evening as the track has a private testing session scheduled running late into the night. Gates will open on Saturday at 3 p.m., time runs will start at 4 p.m. It is important to get to the track on time & come get registered for the race. The title sponsor for this race is Pope Automotive (Dennis Pope) of Kinston, NC with the associate sponsor being Brister Racing (Al Brister) of Morehead City, NC. We will have our normal one time run, followed by our Warren Engines sponsored Dash for Cash, then roll straight into eliminations. We will need racers to come to the staging lanes when called as GALOT Motorsports Park does have a 11 p.m. curfew on Saturday night. * $100.00 to enter * T-shirts, hoodies, & hats are available for purchase. Please be sure to show your appreciation to the GALOT Motorsports Park staff & Josh Peake for taking this race on. Hopefully we will be able to get on their schedule for a regular event in 2025. Re: CCRA KDS Sunday reschedule
GALOT Motorsports Park/KDS Motorsports Race # 4 Results:
We did things a little different on Saturday night. We raced at GALOT Motorsports Park for our Sunday rescheduled race from KDS Motorsports previously in the season. The weather was warm & the action on the track on hot!!! I would like to start off by saying a SPECIAL THANK YOU to Josh Peake & the entire staff at GALOT Motorsports Park for welcoming us & picking up this race for us!!! The track conditions were great! We are now 1/2 way through our CCRA season for 2024. We did our normal one time run & then did our Warren Engines sponsored Dash for Cash. There were 6 cars that went dead on but Hillarey Sloan Marshall picked up the $100.00 with her 6.410 on her 6.41 dial. We had 40 cars on the property but 4 suffered breakage between time runs & Dash for Cash so there were 36 cars that made the 1st round call. I thought that was a great turn out for a Saturday evening 1 day race event for us. Eddie Longhany picked up a few dollars of his own for collecting the 1st Round Best Losing Package courtesy of his own business, Victory Lane Golf Carts. He had a .076 RT, ran a 6.612 at 97.67 mph on his 6.59 dial in his "Ghost" 1969 Camaro. The Renegade Race Fuels & Lubricants/Ford's Fuel and Propane 2nd Round Best Losing Package went to Mike Moller. He was dialed a 8.65, had a .092 RT, & ran a 8.695 at 76.16 mph. He will pick up a 5 gallon pail of Renegade Race Fuels & Lubricants PRO 112+ fuel this coming weekend at Farmington Dragway. Dan Fletcher was the lone semi-finalist. He went up against our current points leader Charlie Wisecarver for the loss at 3 cars. The finals brought 2023 CCRA Points Champion, Kevin Locklear & the current 2024 CCRA Points leader, Charlie Wisecarver to meet up. Kevin was a bridesmaid on multiple occasions last year & has been trying hard to get himself an "infamous CCRA Eagle trophy" & he completed his task of that on Saturday evening under the lights of the beautiful GALOT Motorsports Park facility. Locklear had the advantage at the tree & exceeded to his first CCRA race victory in his "new to him" red Duster that he just purchased from Ray & Jamie Miller at this same track back in June. Kevin was dialed a 6.42, had a .012 RT, & ran a 6.468 at 102.59 mph for the W. Charlie was dialed a 6.34, had a .039 RT, & ran a 6.372 at 105.55 mph for the bridesmaid position. We can't say THANK YOU enough to Brodie McKee on behalf of his business, GBM Land & Construction for being the 2024 CCRA Title Sponsor which has allowed us to pay $2000.00 for every race winner so far this year. Kevin also earned a $100.00 gift certificate from Altronics Inc, a can of FOGGIT, an E3 Ignition certificate for a set of spark plugs, a 50% off one item from Zamp Racing, $100.00 gift certificate from COMP Cams, $100.00 gift certificate from Edelbrock Performance, & a 5 gallon pail of F12 racing fuel courtesy of Fuel Factory. Wisecarver received a $50.00 gift certificate from Meziere Enterprises, a certificate for a set of spark plugs from E3 Ignition, $50.00 gift certificate from Edelbrock Performance, $50.00 gift certificate from COMP Cams, & a 5 gallon pail of F8 racing fuel from Fuel Factory. Dell Britt won the Dunn Logging Company Paul Bunyan/Best RT award for his .000 RT during E1. Raymond Roland has had a terrible year so far (both personal & racing) & this was his first race with CCRA in 2024. He got the McLawhorn Racing Hard Luck Award for his throttle cable issues. They thought they had a temporary fix so he could at least race to again have failure. Dan Fletcher was the Wayside Landscapes & Supply Bounty Hunter award winner for taking out Rockingham Dragway Sunday race winner Lee Truell in E3. Dell Britt was also chosen as the Wisecarver Brothers Racing Sportsmanship award for his help with Raymond Roland in which he took parts off his own car to attempt to help Raymond make the race. Now for his 3rd award of the day, Dell also received the Performance Sealing and Striping Best Winning Package of the race for his E1 victory. He was dialed a 6.95, had a .000 RT, & ran dead 6.958 at 91.46 mph. DeWitt Pope was the Gutters by Design/Worst RT for his .230 RT during E1. Dennis, please let DeWitt know I have a little fuel money for him 🙂. At the end of the night, a random tech card was pulled for the Half Moon Marketplace "Act of Giving Back" award with Jake Melton being awarded a $35.00 Visa gift card. We at CCRA missed our tech officials, Dave & Gloria Ley this weekend as they had a nephew's wedding to attend but they will be back with us this coming weekend at Farmington Dragway. I'll make the post about this coming weekend's action tomorrow. See y'all Friday afternoon/Saturday morning!!! |
