The Passing of Vic Santos...AKA "The Professor"
On Behalf of Brad Rose:
"I am passing along this information with a broken heart that my long time friend and racing partner Vic Santos passed away on September 26, 2024. Right until the end, Vic was a hardcore racer. Vic was always focused on optimizing performance and had a no nonsense attitude when talking about racing or working on the car at the track. Vic raced for over 50 years, but continued to help tune many cars when he retired from driving duties. When he wasn't at home, you could always find him working in the dyno room with his longtime friend Tom Boucher. Vic's nickname was "The Professor" and he was the Quadrajet king! A graduate of Northeastern University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Vic was very knowledgeable and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He was a supporter of the All Star Racing Association since its inception in 1982. As a loving husband, he leaves behind his dear wife Judith, two sons David and Paul, and his granddaughter Courtney. Arrangements are as follows: Croswell Funeral Home 19 Bow Street North Reading, MA Friday October 4th 5:00PM-7:00PM Saturday October 5th 10:00Am-12:00PM May God Bless The Professor..."

Re: The Passing of Vic Santos...AKA "The Professor"
My deepest condolences to Judy and the entire Santos family as they navigate this difficult time.
I first starting engaging with Vic in my teenage years in high-school while at my Dad's shop where Vic often was. I was gravitating towards engineering and ultimately went to college for it and was always intrigued with what Vic was working on. Vic's attention to detail is something I will always remember and certainly was an influence in shaping my career as an engineer and also as a racer. He always had to tie results back to a theory and he was never comfortable with something "working" if he didn't understand why. Vic is truly one of those individuals that has likely forgotten more than most will ever know. I will certainly miss having the ability to consult with him and compare notes. With the no nonsense attitude Brad described, you knew you were always going to get a straight answer, whether its what you wanted to hear or not. Rest in peace Vic.

Re: The Passing of Vic Santos...AKA "The Professor"
At a Board of Directors meeting for ASRA in the 80's I confided in Vic that I was concerned about the rear suspension configuration for the new car I was building for stock eliminator. 1982 Camaro 305 stick shift. At that time there were only 3 of these cars running in the country and they were all automatics. We were at a restaurant and on a napkin Vic and I scratched out the configuration and Vic spoke of instant centers and many things I was clueless on. With some measurements and more napkins, Vic concluded that I would be ok and that the configuration was not all bad.
It was classic Vic and I will never forget him. Vic was very sick a few months back and then he got better and rebounded for awhile before his passing. He made it to the track a couple of months ago and I visited with him for a few minutes. It was refreshing to see Vic that day. My best to his family and all his friends

Re: The Passing of Vic Santos...AKA "The Professor"
We are very sorry to hear the passing of Vic. I am very greatfull that We were able to see him at Epping this year. Even after 8years of us having his car, I could always call Vic and ask him questions and every time he had the answer like it was yesterday. One time we broke a throttle cable and we were not sure where to get the replaement, he asked me if we used the spare that he had, I said i was not sure we had a spare, he continued to tell me what box it was in and with what other parts where in that said box. And as you all know, that cable was in that box right were he said it was!!! We will miss hein that s for sure.
