Car was 100 percent original down to the spinner hubcaps and whitewall tires.Black with red int. Salesman was very knowledgeable and explained to my that the package was dealer installed and came with the car.(?) Car was a trade in from the original owner who bought the car at Roney. Only other dealer install package I have run across was for a 66 street hemi. (basically the 67 wo mods minus the scoop). Rumor also is that Chry built 6 1963 Dodges and or Plymouths with the 383 343 eng for reps to use while they decided if they would release them. Would be great to find a paper trail for this package.

Mike,
Thanks - it may have been me. Near as I can gather, there were no FACTORY 383/343 cars, and since after late 1961, those dealer-packages were relegated to O/SS & then /FX classes, or so I thought.

For example, the Ford 390/401-6v was a dealer install so had to run in O/SS class. However, it DOES appear in today's stock class guide. Other examples of dealer-install were never legal in stock class AFAIK, like the 302/z28-8v, and the 1962 Nova 327-4bbl, which were dealer-packages but not factory. Seems like a double-standard to let the 383/343-8v in, but I figured, well, maybe it WAS factory (as in 50 or more factory & general public).
