GM takes a
slightly kinder approach, but still uses the Holidays as the target timeframe. They've announced that they'll be reducing headcount by 20 percent across the board, in the month of January. I'm long gone from GM, but a buddy of mine who still works there tells me that everybody who's still there is joking "Have a great Holiday season, but keep the receipts on the toys for the kids, because you may not have a job to come back to".
