Here is some swap Information from a 4L60E to 4L65E posting
1) The tailhousing has to be swapped off stock tranny because the one that comes on the L65 doesn't have mounting points for the torque arm. (its 6 bolts and took me 3 minutes to do.)
2) the manual shaft (aka the shift lever) that protrudes out of the side of the trans and gets hooked to the shift linkage must be swapped as the Holden/truck style shift lever is too long and hits the tranny tunnel. it's pretty simple, it's just a matter of popping the pan off and working the lever out from under the gear selector (the ratchet thing that moves as you select different gears.), then putting the stock 4L60E lever in it's place. i let a tranny guy do this step just for the sake of him knowing exactly how to do it and it took about 10 minutes.
3) Should have the same electrical connector and plug in and go.
