Default Re: Ron Garey's 68 olds

Like the other 66 racers, Garey's car started as a regular 442 and was converted to W30 just before the NHRA Nationals in 66. The 54 factory W30s were produced to make the package stock legal. The conversion parts were also available through GMPD. Garey's 66 car was also featured in the SS&DI ad for their 67 SS Nationals, and held the SS/E record at 12.36 sec. The 66 W30 is unique in that Olds intended people to convert regular 442s. Virtually all other "special" or limited production cars had to be bought as such and then raced. The wrecked 68 car was rebodied in 2 weeks, and went on to win the Spring nationals at Englishtown.
