Default Re: dually gear change

ATI has a converter for it.

If you're pulling much, a 383 won't get it done with 3.55 gears. It'll do well to pull a heavy load with 3.73 gears, most small blocks are better off with 4.10 gears, even with a 3.75" stroke.

Fooling with small block engines in bigger heavy trucks, it seems most get better mileage and live longer with 4.10 gears.

There are a lot of 16" tires, some taller, some shorter. It makes a difference.
