Big payout events with prestige are necessary (it's not only about money, otherwise we would all be just bracket racing). More frequent local events are also necessary to build the desire and vision for participating and winning the big ones. Also, the exposure and appetite for class-racing needs to be kindled at the basic grassroots level for the spectators to attend.

The truth, if it has ever been written.

Bring "AA" classes to NHRA Stock Eliminator!

If the "Big payout events with prestige" are NHRA national events, then the writing is already on the wall that it will likely, eventually, be a significantly reduced field with only "select" sportsman that can afford the time and money to attend! Most sportsman racers will be limited to regional/divisional events, which is already happening because of fuel, entry fees, length of events, etc.

There are MANY more people with the desire and competiveness to go to national events than there are those who can afford to go.

Any other NHRA "Big payout events with prestige" would have to be built from scratch. (Unless you count "Sportsnationals"-type events.) I, for one, wouldn't mind trying to race in NHRA also. But tack on at least a day or two to the schedule with the associated expenses, as compared to IHRA events, and the idea is not doable at any serious level.
