Yep. Keeping as much lift and duration as you can is the key. Very tight valve lash addresses this. That's not a blanket recommendation, just a mechanical fact.

Even with a true hydraulic lifter full of oil, there will be some amount of push rod cup movement (down) as it acts against the valve spring. How much is the question and depends on a lot of things.
