2 different types of fuel injection. the 3.1 uses a simple pintle type injector, the engine he's working with uses an injector plus a poppet nozzle in the end of the feed hose. Though it is possible for either of these to malfunction. The poppet type injector is a bit harder to diag. since you're dealing with 2 possible issues, a pressure drop test is typically used by comparing the amount of drop you can identify a "problem" injector be it the injector or the poppet unless cleaning fixes the issue replacement of the injector, poppet included is required.
