A bias ply will be more "forgiving" if the track isn't in the best shape. But as mentioned above, you can work on the car to make it work better with radials. Radials can also be a bit faster in ET and RT than bias.

The higher pressure will work better with a wider rim to help maintain a flatter footprint. That's why a lot of Stockers use 10" rims with 9" tires. I've run 9" Hoosier radials for a long time with good results.
