I think the Dave Wren car was a 63' steel-nosed Max-wedge Plymouth car. Ram-air hood scoop, 415HP.
Sponsored by '93 Chrysler-Plymouth' out of Missoula. Montana.
Car was the SS/DA National Record holder, but I think was classed in SS/D for the Winternationals

Dave's 63 was/is a aluminum max wedge car, He still owns it and bring's it up to Mission Raceway sometimes. It run's 10.90s with a stocker engine in it.
In 1967, NHRA allowed the low comp 415hp cars to run the lightweight noses. They ran SS/C in 67, SS/D in 68. NO re-factoring either!

Arlen Vanke, Dave Wren and a couple of others had great success doing this.

With a factoring of 7.73, it put these right at the top of SS/D in 68 (7.70-8.69)

So to be clear, Dave Wren’s car was originally a steel nose, fitted with a lightweight front clip car and the 415hp engine.

The 425hp engine would have put the car in the middle of SS/C in 68 - 7.54 lbs/hp.
