In their latest race it seems that the southeast gassers are going for the tubbed look... several new cars with the slicks hidden. In the day, guys like the the 'engineers' would get the 9" slicks out of the wind as much as possible - most cars still needed a radius to do it, though. We had a 64 Chevy II (Nova) for a family car and believe me, a 9" slick ain't gonna fit back there.

Skip Hess and Ralph Ridgeway got the wheels up with A frames... like your Mopar guy. Skip with a spacer under the the front crossmember on his 62 vette and Ralph with ball joint spacers and 90/10 shocks on his 55.

Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.
