Great engine!!!---they literally run forever 300-400 thousand miles --ABSOUTELY STAY AWAY FROM ANY FORD DIESEL FROM 2004-2008 6.0 diesel and the 6.4 Ford had so many problems they discontinued them--- getting back to the truck 2 or 4 wheel drive? If its 2 wheel drive ball joints are a common problem replace the with MOOG HD joints the OEM parts have no grease fittings!!!--brake calipers have a tendency to freeze up on the slider pins can happen on all four wheels burns out the rotors/pads and you have to replace the caliper too -water pump/turbo can go out---check to see if the injector harness under the valve covers have been replaced--- due to heat and age they go out replace with OEM FORD ONLY cost more but a better part takes about 4-5 hours to do it--use shell Rotella 15W-40 $ 13 per gallon at Walmart oil in summer 10W-30 in winter--use Motorcraft 1995L oil filter about $10 again at Walmart---you gonna be towing get FORD OEM brake pads they last longer and stop better and less fade too--use a Baldwin fuel filter its the spin on topand filter element in one---use a turkey baster to suck out all the sediment and crap in the filter housing--- see if the fuel filter drain has been replaced they start seeping after the years there is a kit for that do not get the one from FORD it only takes a small Viton oring--use a good air filter replace every other oil change- change oil about 8000 miles fuel filter every third oil change but clean out the bowl when you change the oil only takes a few minutes---put the biggest trans cooler on it you can get like for a 25 000 pound load only use MERCON in the trans nothing else- not Mercon II nothing plain MERCON---nothing else I can think of I bought a 2000 new it has 287,000 on it now---FED387
