If you're planning on spool and axles anyway, don't be scared of the ten 8.5 Once the spool and axles are in they don't know what housing is around them! A girdle cover wouldn't be a bad idea for 10 or 12 bolt. The only big downside to the 8.5 is that there isn't as big of a gear selection as the 12 bolt has.
