Default Proportioning Valve

Ok guys another question. Is it best to run a prop valve on my Chevy II. I run a H class car that is around 3000 with me in it. It has wilwood disc up front with drums on the back. I put a new master cylinder(wagner)for a 70 model nova on it 3 months ago and fri night it took a s--- and I had no brakes!!! The fluid was bypassing the seals on the piston in the master cylinder. I have since put a new wilwood unit on it and fixed the problem but a few guys have said I need a port valve or I may trouble again. So Im asking the experts what you think? Thanks.
