Speeds would be lower too. I never would have supported something like this in the past, but I must admit that if it could possibly save a life I'd probably be OK with it.
That said, I'm not exactly sure where the engine explosion occurred, but the extra 320' may not have made a difference in this case since he was probably already going 300 mph by the 1000' mark.
NASCAR just did a nice little piece on their broadcast, and had a moment of silence at their race in memory of Scott. Nice touch...
