TrueSTART has become pretty common in bracket racing, but it will vary by track or race promoter.
When the first car leaves, the light will ALWAYS turn green. When the second car leaves, the lights will remain green if both drivers were green, or one/both red lights will turn on if either/both drivers were red. The winner will be the driver who was red by the least amount. The way it should be, IMO, although I've never heard about it being approved for use at the NHRA divisional/national level.
If you're the slower car, you just need to be sure to check for winlights after the quicker car leaves.
