Heres a shot of the disconnect switch I installed on Ron Muffetts gen 3 Camaro Stocker .
I modified a Lokar cable operated switch to work under the hood rather than in the rear as the car utilizes just the one battery . the control handle is inside next to the shifter.
Solenoid operated relays are a good idea for killing a alternator but involve maintaining power to the control switch. I would avoid using them in favor of a mechanical switch.
