On a 12 bolt diff using a solid spacer instead of a crush sleeve, what is the recommended torque on the pinion nut?

Back-halfing my Malibu.What is the preferred method of attaching sheet metal to frame,other sheet metal, etc.? Welding or rivets? I don't want a rattlely piece of crap. Also, what have ya'll found that works best for sealing joints? Brand names? I was wondering about urethane windshield sealant, any thoughts on that?
