Just guessing, but maybe it's because that's the information that the OEM furnished the NHRA when they submitted the combination for the Guide? At a minimum you would need to know the OE manufacturer of the carb and the two specs they use to classify them - venturi size and throttle-bore diameter. Having a number just makes it easier for some folks when finding a replacement.
