Default Re: Live from Earlville D5 LODRS

This shot from behind the starting line shows how the track was carved out of the rolling hillside. The hills on each side of the track form the grandstands and an elevated location for tailgating.

The track is built running west to east - which makes for a good tail wind at times. I observed 20 MPH gusts on Saturday. It has a 1% downhill slope - the max allowed. The shutoff area runs up hill - the return road runs downhill to the ET shack - and the staging lanes have enough slope that cars just naturally roll to the starting line.

While there isn't the intimacy of Beech Bend, the hillside viewing makes for a good view of the track. You can see the tractor pullin' track on the side of the Drag Strip.

Roll on up with your golf cart to the best seat in the house.

Seeing things like this had me thinking "these guys thought of everything".

Like keeping the dust down in the pits.

...and using a John Deere hitched to a hayride wagon to shuttle spectators.
