Re: Nov. 3 S/SS Combo - Pageland
I live south of Seagrove. I go over through Biscoe and Troy, and take 109 south all the way into South Carolina, then 9 West toward Pageland. Just before you get into Pageland, there's a blinking yellow light and a small 'Airport' sign. I take that left (south), stay straight on that road and you run right into the track. (If you take that road, there is a split in it after a couple of miles that goes to the left -- stay straight) That route is 79 miles for me. 109 is a little 2-lane road, but it cut 16-20 miles off the trip for me, rather than going 220 -> 1 -> 9.
From Piedmont, I took I-85 to Concord/Munroe, then 601S turns right into 151S in South Carolina. Peach Orchard Rd is about 7 miles south of the intersection of 151 and 9 in Pageland, on your left.
There's directions on their website noted in the earlier post, or you can Mapquest it using the address I posted above as well.
Mooresville's track champ, Tim Byrd, told me that he went down there to race a couple weeks ago, and his low 6-sec car was picking the wheels up more than it does anywhere else, running fast, consistent -- and won the race.
MIke Bradley also posted on Pageland's website in the message forums that we are allowed to get in the $10K guaranteed purse Box race. They'll pair bottom-bulb cars as long as they can, and they'll pay a bonus if someone wins both the S/SS and Box races. There's also a bonus for any bottom-bulb car to win that race.
The Box race pays:
$5,000 Winner
$2,500 R/U
$500 Semi's
$150 5th-8th
$100 9th-16th
Entry Fee: $75
Buybacks: $50 (1st OR 2nd round)
The S/SS Combo is $75 entry, 100% payback, no buybacks. I've got a payscale sheet from Tracy Robbins that they use at Roxboro's events. i.e., 20 cars is $980/win, $420 r/u, $100 semi.
