I have the same shifter but a G-Force 5 speed. Last season I had something like this happen, but the shifter linkage hung in-between gears. Trans went from 4th to 3rd if I recall and the shifter would not move. I found the shifter loose on the trans mounting bracket. You did not find the 2 shifter mounting bolts loose when pulling the trans?
