If it were me, I'd install the trans last.

* Putting it in first, you'd need to keep it supported up front, which may interfere with the engine installation.

* Installing the engine/trans already assembled seems like a pain. I tried installing and/or removing that way a very long time ago and never considered trying it again. But I have heard of some people doing that.
