How much less pressure on the switch is optimal versus staging pressure?

IE Stage @ 1100 switch set to engage at 900.......I think I learned the very hard way that if the spread is too high you get residual pressure and launch at two step RPM......My bad didn't check it when I raised the launch RPM.
