Basically if you are running a little rich in average weather, when you race in bad air (less oxygen) it will make you even richer therefore slowing you down. How much it slows you down depends on many other things related to your engine. On the other hand, when you find yourself in great weather (low altitude) with more oxygen, your slightly rich combo will automatically pick up. Theoretically. Remember, it's always better to be a little rich than too lean! Jim
