I know of one of a SS/AS class car that was one of the first users of the Chevy based tall deck Rocket Block.
Due to the increased distance of the cam location, there was no belt drive system in the market. Therefore, he used a Rollmaster timing set and ran it for two seasons with no problems. The engine made 887 HP and when he refreshened the engine, there was not stretch.
