My guess is the slip yoke moving in and out where as the sensor bracket would be fixed. Can't see how this would be good for proper sensor operation when the magnets would move front to back past the sensor.

I had a Denny's Driveshaft billet yoke on my 12 bolt. It had an undercut area between the seal and universal joint. I machined the magnetic collar inside diameter with a chamfer/radius on each side so it could sit on that undercut/radius area. Worked perfect. Plenty of room between the U-bolt nuts and the pinion seal.

Used an Autometer 4 magnet ring.

Don't remember if this was the exact one, but close.
