I always check the calibration of dipstick, If you have a production pan the full hot mark should be right at the pan gasket. Full hot is measured at 200 degF. transmission temperature. If you overfill the trans the oil will get up into the rotating parts and whip up like a milkshake. The venting system cannot handle that volume of frothed up oil and will spit it out. Also, sometimes the pump halves are not flat, and high pressure oil will cross leak inside the pump. This could cause oil out the vent. The pump halves need to be flat, and torqued to factory specs.
