If you feel that you must use one, put the line in so that it keeps the filter full and you will not have a problem. On the majority of BBC stockers, if you use the proper oil filter, the proper size restrictors in the block, and the proper sized/volume oil pump, you will not need an accumulator. There is plenty of volume for a 9 to a 12 second pass. Of course your pan will have to be baffled to keep from losing pressure on severe braking.
