I was a member of NHRA for 30 years. I got hooked on class racing at the 1982 Winternationls. Those were great years !
After Wally Parks died, it appeared to me that the NHRA was slowly being run into the ground. I didn't renew my membership after that.
As posted above: Members do not have any rights. However, people do have the right to not give the organization their hard earned money.
Even if NHRA attendance slows way down and revenues drop off, the corporate suits can blame the downfall on the economy, not on company policy. Easy way out I suppose. No doubt some are packing their own golden parachute right now.
What can class racers do ? I don't have the answer.
Combo races appear to be the easiest start.
Non-NHRA sanctioned Sportsnationals type events are next and if the sponsors that NHRA just stung want to get on board that would be great !
Until then, one can only hope the IHRA grows and has more events throughout the country.
