Cool Re: IN car cam ... 62 Catalina

In our ancient youth, around 1969 or so, my older brother bought a '62 Catalina, black with red interior, factory 4 speed car, with a transplanted 389 in it. We thought it was a factory 421,but 421 fender badges(we don't need no stinkinn' badges) didn't come out until 1963. In our youth, the aluminum T-10 4 speed needed attention on more than one occasion, so I had it in and out several times. I always wondered why the Pontiac had a conventional perimeter frame, a one piece conventional driveshaft, and a full width frame crossmember, while Chevy had that horrible X frame, a two piece drive shaft, and the weak rear end.Had Chevy used the Pontiac chassis like they should have, the 348's and 409's wouldn't have had a major obstacle to deal with in their drag racing days.
