Default Re: Heavy car with Glide and Brake?

I have a 3400lb 65 wagon x-stocker w/pg & brake. It's a fun ride at 7.20's and 11.40's until the track temp goes over 110 degrees. Then the 9" tires don't always make a clean hit. I could cure it by tubbing the car but I always think I might go back to stock with a stick. If there were a track near by that ran a S/SS combo like Music City did years ago I'd put the 283 back in it in a heart beat and sell the dragster. I'll get on my shop box here. I know we have enough Class cars in the N.TX area to support local area combo races. It seems to me its a Wally or nothing for these guys. I would love to have a monthly program in our N. TX area, someplace I could learn to run stock without the expence of multiple day events and long tows. You would think with 3 strong NHRA tracks within 45 min from downtown Dallas(also 2 IHRA tracks) that they could rotate weekends and avoid divisional and natl events. There aren't to many first gereration class racers out there (imho) and divsional races don't encourage newcomers, I know it imtimidates the heck out of me. Maybe I should have started a new thread for that rant. I would think a one day race for a fair purse plus some extra TnT and seat time would be enough incentive to attract a nice field of cars. But maybe y'all have you cars set on kill to the point one can't justify the extra runs for just the sake of racing. Just my thoughts, sorry to ramble on like this. Y'all have a good day.
