Default Re: 68 Camaro tire recommendation

Just went thru this recently, getting my 67 Firebird stocker on the track. I did not want to cut anything. I have 2 sets of weld wheels. 8" rim, 4.5 back space will fit and looks better, but tight on the back... make sure you have all metal straight in upper wheel well, and clean, so no rubbing on inside of tire. 3.5 backspace sticks out a little more than I like, but makes it easy. Some other brands have a 4" back, would work good I think.

Bias tire, I am running MT 28x10.5. Also have a set of MT 29.5x9's mounted. Same section width on both, but the 29.5 grows too much in the quarter, and rubs on tread, front of fender. Have been 115mph with the 28 and no issues. they are listed as 88" and 90" circumference respectfully, if I remember right.

Radial, they do not grow... if they fit, you are good. The 92.5" Hoosier and the 93" MT radials both work. All listed as 30x9's, but Hoosier has a 92.5 and a 94 circumference tire. The 94" is just a little too tight for me.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
