I guess there were a few used back in the sixties before the T400 came out.
You're right, nothing is the same as a PG except the gear ratios.
They are somewhat stronger in stock form. The best thing about them is the interchange with the T350. Same converter ,although the 2 speed cars had a higher stall, same shift lever, same overall length and mount position with the short 350.
I built one about 25 years ago for a street and strip 400 Firebird. My thought was that it would be easier to hook up on a 9" tire.
Later, when I went to sell the car,I figured it would never sell with a 2 speed, so I bolted in a short T400 with the same converter.
The car felt about three tenths faster, but it ran about the same as with the T300.
What did you have in mind?
