Like 63Vette said, check the linkage adjustment first. ......This also can becaused by a crack in the "rooster comb" where it clamps on to the shift shaft. ........This is becoming far more common now days ,as the clamping bolt has been tightened ,[or overtightened ] many times on most PG's...........The trans will shift all the detents correctly ,but the extra force required to overcome the spring pressure of the park plunger will twist the rooster comb on the shaft.....Easy repair ,even for someone not familiar with automatics, only pan and shaft removal required. .............Tom
