I would be afraid to advance the timing on top of running lean and using 94 octane gas. If you try it and the car slows, I recommend undoing it immediately, as it is probably detonating.

I don't know how retarding the ignition affects consistency, never did that on purpose. The headers will get hotter, maybe even glow, but otherwise it shouldn't hurt anything.

If you try it, please post your results.
