When I had automatic if atf got 200-210 temp range car would pickup @ every incremental,I believe that temp is where atf changes viscosity,thinner fluid lets converter flash a little more and made my car pickup.
I always try to cool my car to temp I can get to no matter how quick we run next round.My favorite cooling method was the old pour 5gallons water through engine method that will put temp gauge on peg.Seems no one does that anymore last time I did that I needed to cool car quick I got alot of strange looks.I had friend use big 36''-48'' fan put in front of car after every pass cooled engine water/oil `& trans all pretty quick.
