340 cam specs?

I am helping a friend with a 1973 340 mopar. The factory 340 camshaft spec is .429 intake and .444 exhaust. The NHRA blueprint spec is .462 and .473. Does anyone know if this is a typo or are we missing something? We hate to have a cam made that is incorrect. We compared a simular vintage Chevrolet 350 and the spec of .390 .410 is the same both factory and NHRA.

If I had an advantageous spec like that I know I would want to shout it out to the world. That way somebody might get it corrected for not only I, but my fellow 340 racers. Good luck in the pits after dark!

I know the 68-69 340's had two different cams. One for automatic equipped cars and one for the stick cars. Maybe the same that you are asking about.

Louis... 462/473 is correct, I've built them, they pass teck. I've found a lot of discreprinces with the NHRA eng specs thru the years but you got to realize back then the factories were involved and were trying to get there stuff in the winners circle. and then there is Carrol S

Thanks for clearing that up. By the way Rocketblock anybody weak enough to cheat does not have the balls to confront a grown man. Thanks again for the reasonable responses.
