Bob,when my red camaro was being built 2 years ago we did not like the way the sw front bars were designed so we were going to do them like you have described in your nova,i called div 1 and was told no bars through firewall in stock period, may or may not have changed, take dave's advice and check first, are you going to drive that 66 this year??

I've been told the same, no bars thru the firewall on a Stocker, cage or not. .......Tom

Thanks for the Info guys, I appreciate it.

What do you think of this.................. Cut the rollcage right at the firewall on both sides and weld a 1/4" thick plate to the tube on both sides of the firewall. Then it can be "bolted" together sandwiching the firewall between the two plates. That way the bar technically doesn't pass thru the firewall. Tell me that isn't a good idea !!!!! And stretching the rules to boot !!!!!

Hey Jim, Yup I'm planning on racing the '66 at a few races this season. We finally got 4 wheel discs on it so it will hopefully stop, now all I need to do is figure out how to cut a light shallow staging ???? Brakes may help .......

Bob,
I'd ask a tech guy before I went to that amount of trouble.

Travis, Dave, or Wesley, any of the three should have your answer.

I guess if the BOLTS didn't go through the firewall you might have a case! But since the bolts are adjoining the pieces of tubing then the bolts are integral to the cage...
Furthermore (and I'm not going to look it up), I don't believe bolted together roll-cages are legal.
