Moroso 74016 12v/16V Battery Charger
 

The transformer, in my Moroso battery charger, has failed.

Has anyone ever worked on one of these and tried to find a replacement transformer?
Or does everyone just throw it in the trash and buy a new one once they stop working.

These are obviously not cheap and the Moroso replacement does not seem as robust as the older version.

It's next to impossible to find stuff to repair 16 volt chargers. I have one sitting in my shop needing repair, my buddy the electrical engineer who repairs stuff as a hobby couldn't find parts.


I don't fool with 16 volt stuff anymore, not worth the money and hassle.

Their INTERACTER -RT 1216 charger looks exactly like a Moroso 74016 other than a decal--- Larry Shell is listed as the owner and Bob Besch as the MGR. --Moroso is notorious for buying stuff and re labeling it with their name on it--FED 387

I run a 12 volt system.
I liked the versatility if I wanted to convert to 16V.
But thank you.

Try alternator and starter rebuilders. I had a local place repair a vintage 12v charger I didn't want to trash.

Or welder repair shops.
