1995 G.M. factory ECM question
I have a 95 Firebird T/A LT1
It is bone stock except for headers, 3.73 rear gears and ABS has been removed. I am going to need a ECM. I have seen them advertised from $150 to $800..what is the difference? None that I can see. Some of them get flashed with the receiving vehicles VIN which may be for security systems. Can I just take an ECM out of any old 95 LT1 Firebird / Camaro? Thanks... |
Re: 1995 G.M. factory ECM question
Use the same number/letter code (automatic or standard)
Might have to do a learning procedure for that car..(see a shop manual) |

1995 LT1 uses the GM ODB1 ECM also called PCM. I have 3 Modified PCM's. There is a Reluctor available. 1995 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am came with a 10-bolt, 7.5" rear end. Buying another 95 F Body PCM is good enough for normal driving. Needs to be tuned for your vehicle. Especially the speedometer. The ABS light will remain on in the dash. Can remove the Bulb. Opportunity to replace burned out bulbs or upgrade to brighter ones To do the tuning purchase TunerCat and Cables for your Laptop. Plus one file specifically for your 95 Firebird. TC will send instructions to get everything working. For custom tune, there are several ODB1 Tuners out there. Can email a Customized .BIN for your car to Download. FWIW ODB1 PCM are hardwired for a 7000rpm max RPM. Hope this information helps. Dan |
