Help with a Ford Maverick
Looking for some ford experts to help out. We have a 72 maverick suppose to be a 5 lug car from the factory.
We bought new front drums for a 72 Maverick but the don't fit. the center hole on the drum is just a little under 2.5" the center of the hub that the hole has to fit over is just a little over 2.75" did someone change these hubs a some point, if so anyone have any idea what the may have come off of. there are 4 different sets of numbers on back of the hub, is there anyway to look them up and see what it is. |
Re: Help with a Ford Maverick
From what I see, all engine options for the 72 Maverick have a drum and hub center hole of 2,43 in.
Look like the 1974 and up Maverick with the new legislation front bumber have a 2,78 in. front center hole for drum and hub. Hope this will help, |

Re: Help with a Ford Maverick
Mavericks with either the 250 cube 6 cylinder, and the 302 V8s had 5 lug wheels, the smaller (170 and 200 cube) 6s were 4 lug. Are you trying to replace just the outer drum, and reuse the old hubs? If so, I have never seen a factory Ford front brake drum that had a seperate drum and hub, unlike older drum brake GMs, on the Fords, the drum and hub are 1 piece, the hub is not meant to be removed from the drum.
