Car on lift
I found a first gen Mustang that has been resting on a two post lift (8ft. In the air) for at least ten years. The car was solid before being raised. It is also in a dry garage.
Will being on a lift for at least ten years negatively impact the structure of the car? |
Re: Car on lift
I would not think so. If it’s suspect take it to a frame shop and have them put it on the numbers. That way you have a good starting point.

Re: Car on lift
On those cars if the doors open and close nice all is well.

Re: Car on lift
8 feet or 1 foot, no difference, suspended by 4 contact points on the frame. Should be no issue though after 10 years, I’d swap out the shocks, bushings and springs

Re: Car on lift
I think it will be fine. If it is a complete, uncut car, it has plenty of structure to hold it stable. Also, look over all the sheet metal including the roof. Any buckling would be obvious.
