Re: Manual trans with torque converter
I have only seen such a thing used on a Lenco style planetary transmission, or a clutchless transmission, like a Liberty. Personally, dumping the clutch pedal is one of the best parts about running a stick car to me.
the Lenco style torque convertor drive units that I have seen are made by Brunos Automotive, which I believe is Comp racer, Bruno Massels father. |
Re: Manual trans with torque converter
I believe Lenco makes one called the Lencodrive also...

I believe that there was also a clutch assisted Torqueflite called a Clutchflite. Mid to late sixties I remember them being around, I think it was supposed to replace the Hydro's the gassers were using at the time. And s someone else also posted when the Transmission co.'s got a handle on the 8" converters those transmissions fell to the wayside. Respectfully, Henry Kunz 1534 H/SA |

Dwight, thanks, my dad had that setup, but he sold it. :) [about 70 years ago]
Anywho, the Lenco site has an explanation of the trans, an easy $11,500.00 will do the job. It was simply curiosity, Powerglides are the cat's meow! |
Re: Manual trans with torque converter
Sounds just like a Bruno Drive, they say they work with Liberty, B&J, Jeffco, Lenco or G-Force transmissions.
