I have only seen such a thing used on a Lenco style planetary transmission, or a clutchless transmission, like a Liberty. Personally, dumping the clutch pedal is one of the best parts about running a stick car to me.
the Lenco style torque convertor drive units that I have seen are made by Brunos Automotive, which I believe is Comp racer, Bruno Massels father.

Except that is totally opposite, an automatic with a clutch instead of a torque convertor. They were somewhat popular back in the days before 8" torque convertors, but with the clutches of the day, were very aggressive and hard on driveline parts.

Good morning to all,
I believe that there was also a clutch assisted Torqueflite called a Clutchflite.
Mid to late sixties I remember them being around, I think it was supposed to replace the Hydro's the gassers were using at the time.
And s someone else also posted when the Transmission co.'s got a handle on the 8" converters those transmissions fell to the wayside.

Respectfully,

Dwight, thanks, my dad had that setup, but he sold it. :) [about 70 years ago]
Anywho, the Lenco site has an explanation of the trans, an easy $11,500.00 will do the job.

It was simply curiosity, Powerglides are the cat's meow!

Sounds just like a Bruno Drive, they say they work with Liberty, B&J, Jeffco, Lenco or G-Force transmissions.
