Who built this manual staging RPM controller??
1 Attachment(s)
This was bought from someone here on Class racer about 10 years ago. It is a very well designed and built piece and fully adjustable for fast idle to prestage, then to the final stage RPM.

Don't know about that one but here's an ad on FB |
Re: Who built this manual staging RPM controller??
Is this legal in stock? If so could I get a close up to make my own?

Re: Who built this manual staging RPM controller??
Not sure on legality. All throttle control is supposed to be by foot, or approved hand control, with that said I know a lot of bracket races have outlawed them.

Re: Who built this manual staging RPM controller??
I do not know about the legality. Specifically, local no e bracket racing in Northeast Texas region. All tracks are IHRA with the exception of the track near Lufkin [Pinevalley] which just reopened under NHRA rules.
My plan is to install and race with it until told otherwise. My question is simply one of curiosity because the controller is a top shelf design and build. Whoever built it had access to machinery and tooling beyond the ordinary. As stated above, I bought the controller from someone on Class Racer who was a friend of the builder. I will gladly send detailed photos for someone wanting to duplicate it but I expect someone is already out there who has the plans. |
Re: Who built this manual staging RPM controller??
Not sure if it was that specific design, but Dan Walley in division one builds them. Not sure how you could get in touch with him. Sorry

Re: Who built this manual staging RPM controller??
I've never used on but I thought it had to be spring controlled so it had to release when you let go of it. I know some made them and they weren't spring controlled and they would forget to release them and got a thrill in the shutdown area.
Isn't a 2 step controlled by the brake pedal legal in stock? I know many sanctioned bracket races have gone to no box. |
Re: Who built this manual staging RPM controller??
It is spring loaded and returns to idle when released.

Larry, that looks like an early version of the one that Ed used to run. The one Ed had was really nice and some guy up around him made them. You might check with him.
The controller that Eman posted is made by Dave Dissinger. |
Re: Who built this manual staging RPM controller??
Mine was made by Richard Matty from Ohio almost 20 years ago. A little crude by todays standards but was cutting edge back in the day ..:
